The students could be able: - to understand the relationship between gender and secularization - to understand the involvement of political movements in the position of women (eg Islamic fundamentalism) - to ascertain the relationship between religions and democracy, human rights and gender equality

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course explores the ways in which gender is involved in the secularization process. More specifically, the course examines the effects of religious and political discrimination on gender equality; the social and political processes of religious activism in public space; the relationship of religions with democracy, human rights and gender equality; and also, the tooling of women to fulfill the political aims of Christian, Islamic and Hindu fundamentalism.
