Course Content (Syllabus)
About maps. The evolution of Cartography from paleolithic era up to date. Map scale, map accuracy, cartographic information detail, map revision, geographical phenomena, Map projections, shape and dimensions of the earth, developable surfaces, light source, cartographic distortions, scale distortion, area distortion, angle distortion, extrema and main directions of scale distortion, Tissot’s indicatrix, varying graphic scale. Cartographic generalization, selection, simplification, smoothing, aggregation, classification. Map design, map margin, map area, grids, graticules, point, line and area symbols, optical organization of the map information, map readability, map annotation

Description
