Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to design either a process device or an entire process. More precisely they will be able to design: - new devices using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) - an entire production process using appropriate process simulation software (AspenPlus)

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course deals with the design, simulation and optimization of processes related to the production of a wide range of products such as food, petrochemicals etc. The course includes: - Process design using a Process Simulator (ASPENplus). . - Process equipment design using a commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code. - Design of Experiment (DOE) techniques to determine the necessary "experiments" that adequately describe the effect of design variables on a particular response variable. - Response surface methodology (RSM)techniques - Case studies
