AKL 708 The Life of the Ancients
In this course, the starting point of the study is man and his life, public and private, as evidenced by the archaeological findings ranging from the geometric to the Hellenistic times. The subjects under consideration can be many and various, as many as the manifestations of human life, e.g. birth, education, marriage, war, death, etc.In this context, students can study eg. the organization of the area of settlements, the organization of the public space in the cities, the sacred spaces in connection with the religious feeling and its expression, the organization of cemeteries, etc. In order to explore the issues, pivotal factors such as time, environment, tradition, influences are taken into account. The study involves the combination of the archaeological testimonies with the information of the relevant written sources.
