Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to: • Possess the fundamental principles of autographic and photographic screenprint, including inductions into the technology of materials; image preparation steps, phototransfer processes and printing techniques. • Get inducted to processes and concepts of analogue and digital photography that determines the image transferring principles of Screenprint. • Expand their knowledge upon vector and bitmap design and printing software, as far as it concerns, the production of appropriate screenprint transparencies. • Be encouraged to research and investigate the history of screenprint in view of a constructive dialogue with contemporary art practice in Greece and abroad. • Get inducted to health & safety matters and workshop safety guidelines, as far as it concerns, individual use of specific tools and equipment.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction to autographic and photographic Screenprinting through scheduled workshop projects, which include drawing studies that derive from observation and visual memory, as well as, from photography and manual/digital collage/design. During the 6th semester, lectures will take place with regards to a) the history of Screenprint and its inherent relation with the industry, advertisement and photography b) its autonomy, social-political implications c) how it “grafted” art movements, how it fuelled collectives and propagated ideologies of the 20th century; and according to all the above, ‘to end up’ claiming a dynamic place withing contemporary art practice and printmaking. .
