Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will: 1. Know how to design a two-stage MOS operational amplifier for integrated circuits. 2. Understand the operation of a rectifier, a voltage regulator, voltage reference circuits (eg bandgaps), class A, B, AB power amplifiers and their parameters as well as their design procedures. 3. Understand the thermal design of power amplifiers. 4. Know power control devices and circuits (Silicon Controlled Rectifier - SCR, DIAC, TRIAC, LTI, IGCT) and their applications
Course Content (Syllabus)
Design of a two-stage MOS operational amplifier, rectifiers, voltage regulators, voltage reference circuits (bandgap). Power amplifiers classes A, B, AB. Calculation of the distortion, output power and the efficiency. Thermal-aware design of power amplifiers. Power control circuit (silicon controlled rectifier SCR, DIAC, TRIAC, LTI, IGCT), rectifiers in power circuits.
