Learning Outcomes
Familiarity with basic concepts of Biochemistry.
The understanding of the structure of biological macromolecules, such as proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids.
The understanding of the structure, classification, mode of action and specificity of enzymes.
The understanding of the principles of biological oxidations leading to the production and storage of energy for living organismsare .
During the courses examples are provided to the students on the specific effect of drugs on biomolecules.

Introduction. Aminoacids. Structure and biological role of proteins. Catalytic proteins. Enzymes. Biologically important carbohydrates. Biologically important lipids. Structure of nucleic acids. Biological oxidations.
