Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
-Approach critically Old Testament texts
-Describe the historical context of the Old Testament historical books
-Use the critical text and the relevant biblical terminology as a scientific tool for Old Testament historical books interpretation
-Interpret the biblical texts by making the necessary references to modern reality
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course approaches the the Old Testament based on the interpretive tradition of the Orthodox Church and the findings of modern biblical science. In particular, through the analysis of biblical passages, are examined issues such as the origin of the universe, the appearance of evil in the world, the role of God in the history of mankind, man's relationship with God, the dispersion of humanity on earth, the beginning of sacred history, etc.
