Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
-Specify the basic principles of the canon law of the Orthodox Church
-Approach the concept of religious freedom in the context of the Greek constitution, European legislation and the relevant jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights
-Interpret the Law of the Church in the context defined by human rights and in particular the concept of religious freedom
-Develop dialogue skills
Course Content (Syllabus)
Τhe course examines the relationship between the Canon Law of the Orthodox Church and the right to religious freedom as it is shaped in the modern Greek and European legal framework. In particular, it deals with the historical development of human rights and its relationship with religion is presented. In this context, the most important official documents, concerning the philosophy of human rights and the right of religious freedom are presented.
Description
