Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: a) analyze the teaching of the Church about icons based on the teaching of the Fathers b) approach theologically the orthodox iconology using specific examples c) managment contemporary interdisciplinary questions about the theology of icons.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course aims to highlight the value of the Church teaching about the icons with emphasis on contemporary reality. Patristic teaching on the spiritual value of icons will be explored and emphasis will be placed on the modern approach to religious depiction (eg. the communicative aspect of the image, the religious image in the modern information society). The course will show the way and the methods that modern interdisciplinary procedures conclude to related results with the Orthodox iconography and its theological consolidation.
