Learning Outcomes
1) Acquisition of knowledge about mining activity in Greece since antiquity 2) Acquisition of knowledge about the formation conditions of Greek and global ore deposits 3) Learn about the particular characteristics of important Greek and global deposits in relation to the geology, tectonics, host rocks and mineralogical and chemical composition 4) Study of parameters and problems related to the environmental impact of mining 5) Methods and ways of protecting and restoring the environment 6) Use of basic research methods, such as metallographic microscopy, in the study of Greek deposits. 7) Linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications in field research

Course Content (Syllabus)
Classification of metallic mineral deposits. Greek metallic mineral deposits. Specific metallic mineral deposits. Deposits of iron and the ferro-alloy metals. Deposits of the nonferrous metals. Deposits of precious metals. Deposits of minor metals and related non-metals. Deposits of fissionable metals.
