Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the 13 teaching units of the course:
- Students to be able to know the issue of public participation in the election of bishops based on the canonical provisions that refer to this issue.
- In addition to be able to be scientifically introduced to these relevant provisions and thus be able to process and compare with each other the appropriate and sufficient scientific information for each era, ie to process how they were applied during the electoral process of electing bishops.
- Also, to be able to ascertain the reasons for the imposition of laws or rules that in some cases institutionalized the participation of the people in the election of bishops or in other cases prohibited it.
- Finally, to be able to ecclesiastical and state provisions on the participation of the people in the election of Bishops how they were applied in practice, but also to make a comparison of their application from historical times to modern life, with the ultimate goal to investigate whether they can be applied today in the Synodal institution of the Church.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The participation of the people in electing church officers in the ancient Christian Church. Compare State election designating state officials and church elections enhancement ecclesiastical functionaries . The participation of the people in electing bishops during normal content testimonies of anonymous coding projects raw AD centuries ( Teaching of the Apostles, Ecclesiastical Rules of Apostles , Diatagai the Apostles , Apostolic Tradition of Hippolytus , Testament of our Lord Jesus Christ, Rules Hippolytus ) . The participation of the people in the choice of bishops during normal teaching of universal and local Council of the Orthodox Church (presentation and discussion of the sacred rules). The participation of the people in electing prelates and bishops of the Orthodox Church in the canonical provisions of Byzantine and post-Byzantine period (presentation and discussion of the relevant provisions ) . The participation of the people in electing prelates and bishops in the Orthodox Church since the fall of the Ottoman Empire to the present.
Individual modules are structured as follows :
1. The participation of the people in electing church officers in the ancient Christian Church ( Bible - Evidences Apostolic Fathers Church Fathers until the 5th century AD ) .
2. The participation of laity in the election of bishops in the regular content testimonies of anonymous coding projects raw AD centuries.
3. The involvement of the laity in the election of bishops during normal teaching of the Ecumenical Councils.
4. The involvement of the laity in the election of bishops during normal teaching of Local Councils.
5. Canonical provisions of the Byzantine period on the participation of the people in the election of bishops.
6. Canonical provisions of the post-Byzantine period on the participation of the people in the election of bishops.
7. Election of bishops of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople .
8. Election of bishops in the patriarchates of Alexandria and Antioch .
9. Election of bishops of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Church of Russia .
10. Election of bishops in the Churches Serbia , Romania and Bulgaria .
11. Election of bishops in the Church of Cyprus.
12. Election of bishops in the Churches of Greece , Poland, Albania , Czech Republic and Slovakia, Finland , Estonia.
13. Election of bishops in the Church of Crete.
