Learning Outcomes
The purpose of the course is for students to acquire knowledge for the application and development of skills in people of different ages and mobility abilities, both in body skills and in handing skills of RG apparatuses (hoop, clubs, ribbon) and alternative apparatuses (??, handkerchiefs). The use of music during the practice of body and apparatus exercises -elements helps to understand and apply the concepts in the above skills (separately or in combination). It can also easily enhance the pedagogical and recreational purposes of the module at all levels and constructs of education and physical activity.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Theory 1. Kinematic characteristics of Rhythmic Gymnastics skills 2. Basic principles of coordination’s ability 3. Basic principles and development of the ability of flexibility 4. Ways of evaluation and methods of developing the abilities of coordination and flexibility 5. Teaching method of hoop skills 6. Teaching method of club skills 7. Teaching method of ribbon skills 8. Physical exercise for elderly using rhythmic gymnastics skills 9. Architecture of composing a program – choreography with or without music, including rhythmic gymnastics elements in order to cultivate fantasy and creativity 10. Architecture of composing a group program – choreography (“ensemble”) with or without music, targeting to cultivate cooperation, communication and creativity 11. Teaching method of alternative apparatus skills (cloth and scarves) in combination with body elements and the rhythmic gymnastics typical apparatus 12. The role and influence of different forms of dance in sports 13. Basic elements of regulations in operating rhythmic gymnastics “ensemble” according to the International Code of Points Practice 1. Teaching complex body skills and handling alternative apparatus (cloth and scarves). Creating rhythmic motives (in groups and individually) by tapping apparatus together or to the ground and combination of taps with body elements. 2. Teaching method of leap / jump series. Teaching with developmental progression of handling skills with hoop, through games. Development of imagination, teamwork and cooperation, individually, in small and large groups. Different ways of performing the skills and space awareness with hoop, accompanied by music. 3. Classification and teaching method of rhythmic steps (waltz, polka). Approach of teaching individually, in pairs, in groups. Combinations of rhythmic steps with simple handlings of the hoop (swings, circles, transfers, passages through and over the hoop). 4. Teaching exercises for developing coordination abilities. Teaching method of handling hoop with figures eight in different levels and with different direction and rolling on the ground. Games with rolling on the ground to develop coordination skills. 5. Teaching method of the rotation of the hoop at all levels and from different body positions (standing, supine and sitting position). Rotations in various parts of the body. Combining rotations with body skills (balance on one leg, turning on two legs, turning on one leg - pivot, jumping). Rolls of the hoop on various parts of the body. 6. Teaching exercises for developing coordination abilities. Teaching method of different throws (vertical, horizontal, diametric). Combining throws of hoop with body skills (simple walking, balance, leap and jump). Short connections of hoop throw with other handlings (rotations at the palm and throw, throw and pass-through hoop after catching with both hands). Gradual increase of the number of skills resulting to a short synthesis. 7. Teaching combinations of body skills of different groups (leap or jump with roll, balance with leap or jump). Teaching method of simple handling skills with in developmental order through games (handles, tapping, transfers). Combination of body skills with handles with clubs, using musical accompaniment. Creation of short choreographies. 8. Teaching method of swings, circles, figures eight, at various levels, initially with one and then with both clubs. Combination with rhythmic steps using music accompaniment. 9. Teaching method of throws using one and two clubs. Asymmetric handlings and approaching mills’ technique. Short individual and group compositions using together clubs and one of the so far taught apparatus (rope, ball, hoop, scarves, cloth). Development of fantasy, teamwork and cooperation. 10. Ribbon games, targeting at getting acquainted with the length and behavior of the ribbon. Teaching sequence: handles, swings, circles, figures of eight, 11. Acrobatic elements on hands. Teaching method of spirals and snakes. Combination of them with body skills (balances, pivots and turns, leaps and jumps). Short compositions with musical accompaniment. 12. Teaching method of echappes, and throws. Compositions with ribbon, adapted to developmental ages. 13. Repetition of skills with hoop, clubs and ribbon. Collaborations using a combination of two of the three instruments. Practical teaching of male and female students in micro-groups, on their free choice subject. General and detailed directions for creating compositions-programs using the five typical apparatuses of Rhythmic gymnastics. Distribution of the groups of exercises in the space, use of the whole space, successful combination of movement and music.

Student Assessment
Students are assessed in both theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part includes the examination of lectures’ content, while the practical part includes the presentation of a synthesis – choreography with one of the apparatus which are taught during the particular semester. The grades of the theoretical and practical part are offset by an excellent 10.
