Learning Outcomes
The scope of the course is the introduction of concepts and methods of probability and statistics, which are useful in problems of civil engineering.
Therefore, students who will attend and succeed in the exams of the Statistics, should be able:
-to solve simple problems related to finding probabilities for an event to happen that reaches their object. (12 teaching + 10 hours reading for the test + 8 solving the first test +20 final exams = 50 hours) 1.7 ECTS
-to be able to find the basic parameters of random variables and solve practical issues related to the probability functions. (3 teaching + 8 comprehension study + 4 final exam study = 15 hours) 0.5 ECTS
-to recognize data models of theoretical distributions and solve problems with random variables that follow the corresponding distributions. (6 teaching + 10 comprehension study + 6 test preparation + 8 exam preparation = 30) 1 ECTS
-to be able to estimate parameters or find confidence intervals of the mean values of random variables. (3 teaching + 8 comprehension study + 4 final exam study = 15 hours) 0.5 ECTS
-to be able to perform the process of t-test, chi square test and simple regression, either computationally or through the spss program. (15 teaching + 20 comprehension study + 5 test preparation +10 spss study + 20 final exam study = 70) 2.3 ECTS
