Course Content (Syllabus)
Reinforced concrete beams under vertical and seismic loads. Ultimate limit state of RC beams in bending and shear with superposition of unfavourable actions and use of envelope curves for design. Reinforcement detailing according to Eurocode 2 and 8. Design examples of continuous beams according to Eurocode 2 and 8. Anchorage of reinforcing steel, bond mechanism between steel and surrounding concrete, parameters influencing bond stresses, estimation of anchorage lengths according to Eurocode 2. Design examples of detailed estimation of the anchorage length of reinforcement steel of beams, slabs and columns according to Eurocode 2. Reinforced concrete slabs, types of slabs, one- and two-way spanning slabs. Slab design: (i) Czerny and (ii) Markus tables. Detailed design examples. Alternate loading. Construction detailing of slabs. Load transfer from slabs to beams. Design of RC beams in torsion: types of torsion. Beams under pure torsion. Beams under shear and torsion.
