Learning Outcomes
The content of the course "Transport and Environment" establishes, firstly, an adequate body of curriculum, which covers the basic needs of knowledge on the subject of the assessment of the impacts on the environment from traffic and transport in general.
Furthermore, the program of the lectures forms a coherent awareness and education at the Civil Engineering Department' students, necessary for the balanced and comprehensive management of the problem of protecting the environment and the quality of life.
With the successful completion of the course the students will:
- have personally formed a structured consciousness and education, necessary for a balanced and comprehensive approach to the problem of environmental protection and quality of life.
- be able to adequately address the concept of environmental impact studies and the requirements for their drafting and evaluation, a subject particularly "popular" in the current labor market of civil engineers.
- adequately understand the interaction of the various transport systems (road, sea, rail, air), during their construction and operation, with the environment (natural, man-made, economic).
- be able to work professionally in the future with issues such as the study and organization of a network for the transport of hazardous cargo / waste, as well as the ADR consultant.
- know the modern technological and research developments in the means, the infrastructure and the operation of the transport systems.
- become familiar with the concept of climate change and its impact on the transport of persons and goods.
- be familiar with the instruments and methods of measuring and analyzing the environmental impact of transport.
- know the basic elements of the economic environment and will understand its role in the study of transport systems, mainly through the practice of solving practical problems.
