Course Content (Syllabus)
Since the early 1950s, several of the poets of the so-called First Post-War Generation have been actively developing a writing presence as critics as well.
After the introduction and overview of this particular spiritual function in the wider spectrum of the Modern Greek Literary Secretariat (starting with the poets-critics of the Heptanesian School), the conditions under which the poets-critics of the First Post-War Generation appeared are examined. Through a broad and representative flowering of essay and critical texts, and in conjunction with the highlighting of the role played by both historical and political events and literary journals of the time, attempts are made to highlight the distinguishing characteristics of this discourse, its multi-circular expressions, its aesthetic advances and the extent to which this discourse attempted to define new horizons in Modern Greek criticism.
