Course Content (Syllabus)
* Germination: Seed anatomy, biochemical processes during germination, factors affecting germination. Seed dormancy (causes, mechanisms and releasing factors). * Adventitious root and bud formation: Factors, the role of hormones, applications on rooting of cuttings. * Tuber and bulb formation: Factors affecting, the role of hormones. * Abscission: Anatomy, physiology, regulation. Apical dominance: Mechanism, the role of hormones, regulation. Juvenility: Morphological and physiological characteristics, hormone regulation, applications on horticultural crops. * Physiology of flowering: Photoperiodism, vernalization, chemical regulation. * Bud dormancy: Physiology, hormonal mechanism, regulation. * Fruiting: Fruit morphology, physiology of fruit development, parthenocarpy. * Senescence of plants: Mechanisms, theories, the role of hormones.
