Upon completion of this course, students will be able:
1. to become familiar with the concept of total quality and quality improvement process
2. to solve basic quality problems by using tools for quality improvement
3. to become familiar with the quality standards and some successful examples-models.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is designed to give students fundamentals of Total Quality Management with emphasis on contemporary quality planning, control and management approaches, implementations and criticisms. In particular the course outline is the following:
1. Introduction, total quality concept
2. Evolution of quality concepts and quality paradigms
3. Organization for total quality, process management
4. Quality teams and teamwork processes
5. Basic problem solving tools for quality improvement
6. Leadership and empowerment
7. Quality standards and award models
8. TQM implementation and case studies
9. Quality through improvement: Six sigma, lean six sigma, kaizen, 5S, SPC
