Upon successful completion of the course students will:
1. have acquired a basic knowledge of the mechanisms involved in the physiology of nutrition of farm animals
2. have understood the modern literature on the interpretation of mechanisms related to physiology of nutrition
3. have understood the evolution of knowledge about the digestive system, digestion, absorption and metabolism of nutrients in farm animals

Ingredients of the animal body and animal feed. Organic nutrients (carbohydrates, fats, proteins). Anatomy and physiology of the digestive system of farm animals. Digestion and absorption of nutrients. Intermediate metabolism of nutrients. Vitamins (biological/metabolic role and symptoms of deficiency). Minerals.
