Learning Outcomes
Cognitive: the cognitive goals of the course are that the students learn basic notions of Applied Mathematics (Differential Equations, Complex Functions and Fourier Transforms) which can be essentially exploited in Computer Science.
Skills: students learn to use basic methodologies which are essential in several procedures, implementations and applications of computational and communications systems.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This course aims at the students understanding the basic methodologies for the solution of Ordinary Differential Equations as well as the basic notions of Complex Analysis. Its syllabus is summarized in the following two sections:
-- Methodologies for solving ordinary differential equations with applications
-- Complex numbers, analytic complex functions and complex integration with applications
-- Fourier series and transforms
Also, there will be some implementations of the above by using mamthematical software (if time permits).
