General Prerequisites
There is an issue concerning the prerequisites for this workshop and, indeed, for all the directing workshops: Can a student can take 2 Direcing Workshops 1 without having first taken 1 Directing Workshops 1? The logical answer is no. But experience thus far has shown us that something of the sort is possible in some cases. Still, our concerns about this subject remain.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester the student will be able to: 1. get to know the basic stages in the director’s collaborations with the cast and crew at each stage in the making of a film. 2.communicate their directorial vision to everyone else involved in the production and embellish that vision through their collaborations 3.see how essential each member of the crew and cast is 4. work with them to complete the exercises that are set during the semester.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The director’s relationships with: 1. The script-writer, 2. The Director of Photography, 3. The set designer, 4) the costume designer, 5. The sound man and the sound designer, 6. The editor, 7. The mixer, 8. The colour grader. Special reference is made to the people in a film, to moulding the ‘human landscape’ of a film and to the director’s role in choosing his collaborators.

Films, and scenes from films, are screened during the workshops. Notes are distributed electronically after every workshop which summarize what was done during the workshop while also noting the key aspects of the related theory and directorial practice. At the end of the semester, the students prepare a second short film/exercise--the prepared the first at the end of the first semester.

Student Assessment
The students are graded on the basis of: - The final project of the semester, the main factor in their grade. - Their performance in each of the exercises they undertook. - Their workshop attendance and participation. * Every film/exercise receives an overall grade. The individual students in the group also receive a grade for their contribution/area of specialization and their overall mark reflects both the group and individual marks. ** A project’s assessment and grade take its difficulty into account.

Στο τέλος κάθε εργαστηρίου δίδονται σημειώσεις με σκοπό να θυμηθούν οι φοιτητές όσα θέματα αναφέρθηκαν σε αυτό και κάποιες φορές να εξηγηθούν περαιτέρω κάποια. Ανάλογα με την συνεργασία του σκηνοθέτη με κάθε έναν από τους καλλιτεχνικούς συντελεστές, προκύπτουν επιμέρους ανάγκες. Διδεται πρόσθετη βιβλιογραφία και "υλικά" από την συνεργασία του σκηνοθέτη με κάθε έναν καλλιτεχνικό συντελεστή.
