Upon the successful completion of the course, students will be able to identify the vocabulary, structural patterns and content of simple scientific texts, to comprehend their basic structure and writing techniques in order to write their own assignments and/or papers when needed.

Course Content (Syllabus)
n the course “Greek Language for foreign students, 2nd Semester” (level C1.2), students will be introduced to scientific articles found in the press and magazine of special interest (e.g. Focus, Vima Science, etc) which are adapted for non-academic readers.
Upon the successful completion of the course the students will be able to:
• identify the difference between academic and social language,
• comprehend and produce texts expressing their opinions on matters of greater interdisciplinary interest,
• recognize and use elements of morphology and syntax seen in academic language such as passive present participles in -όμενος, -ώμενος, -έμενος, -oύμενος and passive perfect participles and the difference in their use (e.g. απασχολημένος- απασχολούμενος), compound verbs with -έχω, -θέτω, -καλώ, -λαμβάνω) formation of derivatives and compound nouns (αντι- από- μετα- παρα- ) and verbs (-ποιώ, -γράφω), adverbs ending in -ως και -α.

Description
Four language skills' evaluation (listening, reading, speaking, writing) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment 2001. Council of Europe, Cambridge University Press, http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/education/elp/elp-reg/Source/Key_reference/CEFR_EN.pdf. Due to the interactive character of teaching there is the possibility to evaluate students during class.
