Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of the course is to present the basic concepts of textlinguistics. Initially, basic definitions in the field of textlinguistics will be discussed in class such as:
• what criteria define the textual unit,
• what is the connection between text and context.
Moreover, basic text classification issues will be analyzed, such as coherence and cohesion in different genres. Various theories of discourse analysis will be presented to the students. Last but not least, students will learn how to analyze their data statistically, using descriptive statistics and conducting hypothesis testing related to one mean.
