Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, student will: 1) have become acquainted with the concept of drawing and with the methods and rules of design representation of space, in its various scales; 2) learn to use basic tools and techniques of drafting, as being used in the urban design scale, the urban planning scale as well as the spatial planning scale; 3) practice in observing, documenting and mapping of the physical elements of space, using a variety of techniques; 4) understand the complexity of the parameters that shape space (history, society, environment, technology, economy, etc.) and how these parameters influence the development and organization of space in the scale of the city and that of the periphery.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This design studio has the role of introducing first-year students to the scope of the Department and specifically to the various scales of Spatial Planning, thus preparing them for the design studios to follow in the next semesters. More specifically, the course aims for the students to learn basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The design studio is organized in four (4) exercises / projects, based on observing, documenting and mapping of the physical elements of space, using a variety of techniques, from the scale of the urban block to the exurban space: Project #1: My neighborhood Project #2: The urban block Project #3: The image of the city Project #4: The exurban landscape
