Learning Outcomes
Development of the ability to recognise und understand the main interpretative issues related to the taught provisions, to use appropriate interpretative methods for solving them, to present und critically evaluate the opinions supported about them in science and jurisprudence and to apply correctly the provisions in the framework of practical exercises.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This course examines the basic crimes that are typically included in the concept of corruption in the public sector, ie the crimes of bribery and undue influence when committed by civil servants, foreign public officials or officials of international organizations. In particular, the relevant international and European texts are presented and the institutional framework in force in Greece is analyzed in detail, with reference to specific important corruption cases that have occupied the Greek justice. Issues of international cooperation against corruption in the public sector are also investigated (eg legal aid, European warrant), and finally the limits of the procedural interventions promoted in the process of investigating and proving these crimes in a fair trial are specified.
