Learning Outcomes
- Students will practice reading closely literary texts, films, speeches, newspaper clippings
- Will gain knowledge of certain key historical, social and political events that influenced American literary and cultural production
- Will re-evaluate and re-assess certain important notions on the basis of the themes examined in class (race, gender etc.) and other socio-political developments.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This interdisciplinary course will set to explore some central themes and concepts that define American literature and culture from 1914 till the present day by shedding light on certain historical and political facts. Topics to be studied include: Land/Immigration, Native Americans, Gender, Urbanism, Technology, Race/African Americans, Politics, Ecology, 9/11 etc. Texts: literary and cultural texts (speeches, songs, poems, essays, lyrics); films and photographs.

Description
-Online material made available via the American Studies Resource Portal (www.asrp.gr)as well as documentaries/interviews via youtube.
-As regards communication with the students, this is always carried out via email or the online posting of various announcements or via elearninh.
-The elearning platform is used for the uploading of all course material as well as for the submission of the student essays.
- The course was examined online for the first time in June and September 2020 via the elearning platform (recommended method: Quiz with open ended questions).
