Course Content (Syllabus)
PAINTING 3 - Cycle (3/4) of Studio courses of the 5th Painting Studio This course cycle concerns studio research and basic teaching of visual language which is completed in the first four semesters of Painting 1 to 4. The methodological tools of presentation and representation are presented as well as research on the morphological performances of the two-dimensional and three-dimensional form are made in the studio. Composition and drawing exercises from natural and non-natural pattern, extended design concept, color composition and "basic" drawing (Bauhaus) exercises, drawing with light shading, drawing with flat form, painting and drawing using photography. Use of drawing and painting materials, graphite, Chinese ink, acrylics and oil paints, watercolors. Extended forms of painting such as collages, photography, compositions with "out-painting" materials. Students are also invited to record and present in text their thoughts on their involvement during the art process. At the tutorial level, digital image processing programs are taught according to the level of knowledge of each student. As face-to-face laboratory research and teaching focuses on students' particular abilities, the duration and content of the exercises potentially specializes accordingly. The content of the studio lessons Painting 1 - 4 is harmonized with the aesthetic direction of the 5th Painting Studio that focuses on the teaching and the free artistic-studio research of painting in its widest form. It combines the tradition of artistic practice with contemporary and diverse concepts in the field of visual arts. Teaching and research on the infrastructure of "visual language". The artistic practice with the use of design or in general the organization and the composition of painting space. Also, as in every semester of the 5th Painting Studio, the following potentially take place: • lectures by invited artists and art theorists. • collaborations with other Studios and Directions of the Department, with other Departments of School of Fine Arts and AUTh. • educational trips or visits to major art events, museums and galleries. • cooperation with cultural organizations and institutions, such as museums and art galleries, or Schools of Fine Arts of other Universities. • participation of the Studios students in art exhibitions in Greece and abroad

Access available for students interested in using the Computer Lab of the 5th Art Studio of Painting for artistic work (first floor of the Art Studio building). Recommended visit through the web to major galleries, museums etc.
