Learning Outcomes
The course objectives are:
(A) to give students the chance to put into practice the theoretical equipment acquired throughout their undergraduate years in the Department of Classics.
(B) to foster students’ self-reliant engagement with problems on all levels of philological (language, style, textual criticism, interpretation) and literary-historical enquiry.
(C) to allow students to prove as best they can the extent of their scholarly proficiency as classicists.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course (along with the equivalent GREEK ΑΕΦ 143) marks the finishing line of Specialization in Classics. Building on all previous undergraduate courses, students are expected to work through Vergil, Aeneid 1-4, and Horace, Odes 1 and 3. Following the course, oral examination tests students’ ability to negotiate a variety of questions regarding the above mentioned texts. Examiners will also raise points about the history of Latin Literature.
