Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of the teaching path the students:
- Will have a comprehensive view of the dynamic way of existence, evolution and transformation of the cultural process.
- Will have been in contact with the work of thinkers and streams of thought that determine the way we view, “we read”, we teach culture.
- Will have acquired an aggregate of thoughts and tools that can help both in their social self-awareness as future teachers as well as in the empowerment of their teaching construction and their corresponding “educational capital”.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The module aims at presenting the development and changes in the cultural process by examining particular issues from the fields of Literary theory as well as the field of Cultural studies. It introduces and explains key questions of how culture is produced through the analysis of the views of major thinkers and significant contemporary figures from different disciplines (Pierre Bourdieu, Norbert Elias, etc.). It also deals with a diverse spectrum of theory, such as psychanalysis, critical theory, post-modernism. By analyzing these theories and traits it shows the development and future direction of the cultural phenomena in the Greek society.
