Learning Outcomes
• Students are familiarized with the new emerging field of sonic theatre (and with current themes and debates in the area) through a wide range of theatre and performance texts of sonic making
• They are provided with the critical vocabulary required to read and analyze such sound-based works
• They are encouraged towards a cultural and political reading s of sound with reference to the post-millennial British society
• They are inspired to think about theatre through sound and thus engaged in a more interdisciplinary approach to theatre and performance studies

Course Content (Syllabus)
Every week we explore a different parameter of sonic theatre (vocality / noise / soundscapes /silence / listening etc.) – with certain areas asking us to dwell on for more than one week. There is assigned theoretical reading for each week and with some weeks there is primary text reading required in advance.
