Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this course, students: 1. Have proven knowledge and ability to understand issues in special field of Private Insurance Law and Negotiable Instruments. 2. Be able to use in practice the knowledge and understanding ability acquired. 3. Be able to develop and support legal arguments and to propose practical solutions to legal problems on the special field of Private Insurance Law and Negotiable Instruments. 4. Be able to provide accurate information on the issues of Private Insurance Law and Negotiable Instruments towards to both qualified and non-qualified audience.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course COMMERCIAL LAW (LAW OF COMMERCIAL TRANSACTIONS) consists of two more specific subjects: 1. Private Insurance Law, in which students are taught, primarily, on the one hand, the general insurance law governing every type of insurance contract, and, on the other hand, the law governing specific types of insurance contracts (such as transport insurance). In addition, reference is made both to the law governing the operation of the insurance company and the supervision exercised over it by the Bank of Greece, as well as to the law concerning insurance mediation. 2. The Law of Negotiable Instruments, by which students are taught the legal framework and the operation of two important - in financial transactions - negotiable instruments, the Bill of Exchange and the Bank Check. In particular, the course includes the following sections: I. Private Insurance Law 1. Introduction - General part - The insurance (meaning, essential elements, divisions) 2. The insurance contract 3. Formulation of the insurance contract T 4. Obligations of Parties (insurer, policy holder) 5. Assignment of the insurance claim, prescription of the insurance claim. 6. Special part – insurance against loss and damage - Special types of non marine loss insurance 7. Personal Insurance - types of personal insurance 8. Legal status and operation of the insurance company 9. Insurance mediation II. Law of Negotiable Instruments 1. Theory of Negotiable Instruments 2. Bill of Excange (genaral consepts) 3. Issue and type of bill of exchange 4. Acceptance, endorsement and guarantee of a bill of exchange 5. Fulfillment of legal obligation from a bill of exchange - Objections 6. Bank Check (issues corresponding to those of bill of exchange law) - Unsecured check
