Learning Outcomes
Students are expected Τo understand the neurobiological basis of language To understand the role of the brain in language learning (L1, L2, L3) To understand the role of brain in performing highly specialized linguistic tasks (e.g. simultaneous interpretation) To correlate the findings of basic research on neuro-linguistics with the foreign language practice in the classroom. To understand the methodology of neurolinguistics To understand how this methodology is applied for the study of language

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is an introductory approach to Neurolinguistics. Specifically, I focus on the following sections: • Brain and language. Structure and language functions. • Learning L1 as a neurobiological process. • Brain plasticity and bilingualism / multilingualism. Brain and L2 learning • Neurolinguistic findings and foreign language teaching

Description
Written essay; length: 1500 words (+/- 15%). Marking criteria: Content (data accuracy, argumentation and bibliographic documentation) Structure and text coherence (meaning logical sequence, paragraphs, titles, subtitles) Linguistic form (comprehensible written text, correct syntax and grammar) Bibliography and references (accuracy and correctness of references and the bibliography section at the end of the text)
