Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
The course has no formal prerequisites. In order for the participants to be able to more easily understand the structure of many complex problems, it is recommended to attend the previous courses of Criminal Law - General Part and Poinology.
Learning Outcomes
Learning the basic rules and principles of the Greek substantive and procedural criminal law of minors as well as the juvenile penal law (principle of child, principle of upbringing, principle of proportionality, principle of proportionality, principle of subsidiarity, principle of minimum social intervention knowledge of the basic institutions and bodies of the juvenile justice system (juvenile courts, juvenile judges, juvenile prosecutors, juvenile police, juvenile custody service, ombudsman), the specifics of juvenile delinquency, and reality in educational institutions and special youth detention centers. Knowledge of the methods of empirical approach to the social phenomenon of juvenile delinquency and criminality (officially certified and self-reported) and knowledge of the extent, structure and evolution of police-certified as well as judicially established crime and the sanctioning practice of judges.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The subject of the course includes the study of the specific provisions of the substantial and procedural criminal law as well as the correctional law for juveniles. Furthermore, the extent, structure and development of the juvenile delinquency and juvenile criminality are examined, while a comparative analysis of the legal context is undertaken. Finally, based on international (empirical) criminological research findings, the formulation of reform proposals for the treatment of juvenile offenders and juvenile victims is a matter of discussion.

Student Assessment
Description
The evaluation of the students is based on the examination process (written and oral) at the end of the semester as well as (auxiliary-supporting) on their (voluntary) participation in the writing of theses. To ensure transparency in the evaluation of their performance, a predefined detailed score is used for each individual problem that is set to be solved in the exams. To enhance the above transparency, students are encouraged to come after the exams either in group or individual meetings with the teacher in order to see their writing and receive detailed explanations of both the way they had to answer and the way rated.
