Learning Outcomes
(a) Having completed the course, students will be familiar with the fundamental assumptions and motivations of the analytic tradition in philosophy. (b) Having completed the course, students will be familiar with the fundamental principles of formal logic. (c) Having completed the course, students will have developed the skills necessary to engage with philosophical texts in the area of philosophy of language. (d) Having completed the course, students will have developed the necessary critical skills to understand and assess philosophical arguments.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is an introduction to the philosophy of language in the analytic tradition. The course starts with a general introduction to analytic philosophy, which is necessary to understand the foundational role that the analysis of language plays in this tradition. We then survey some central topics in the philosophy of language. The course also includes an introduction to formal logic.
