Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will have a preliminary study of oral cells, tissues and oral diseases on their microscopic appearance. In addition to understanding the basic structures of oral tissues and cells, they will have a thorough understanding of the substrate and the microscopic changes that have taken place in the tissues leading to the development of several oral mucosal diseases as well as salivary glands and jaws.

1. Tissues and cells of the oral mucosa, jaws and salivary glands
2. Histological apperance in the various areas of the oral mucosa. Differences with other mucous membranes
3. BAsic histological lesions of the oral mucosa
4. Benign epithelial lesions
5. Malignant epithelial lesions
6. Bullous immune-mediated oral-skin diseases
7. Infections
8. Pigmented lesions-Nevi-Melanoma
9. Papillary or tumor-like lesions of the oral mucosa Benign & Malignant
10. Non-neoplastic & Neoplastic diseases of salivary glands
11. Cysts
12. Osteomyelitis, benign and malignant jaw diseases
13. Odontogenic tumors
