Learning Outcomes
In the Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology course, students learn about a range of lesions of the oral and maxillofacial region, including oral manifestations of systemic diseases, and to determine initial diagnoses, and provide treatment for medically compromised patients.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This course includes all the content of Oral Medicine/Pathology II (elements of oral microbiology, infections, diseases of salivary glands, physical and chemical damages, diseases of immune etiology, metabolic diseases, blood diseases, oral and maxillofacial manifestations of systemic diseases, skin diseases, diseases of the nervous and muscular system, endocrine diseases, diseases of the connective tissue). However, special emphasis is given to the clinical picture, diagnosis and differential diagnosis approach, as well as to the therapeutic management. Special attention is also given to the medical and dental past history, to physical and psychosomatic approach, as well as to clinical examination of the patient.The educational methods used for this course are student’s attendance in the clinic and seminars. Criteria of evaluation are the regular attendance of the seminars and success in the exams at the end of the 10th semester.
