Course Content (Syllabus)
The course Preventive Dentistry II focuses on the clinical training of students with cases of patients suffering of caries and / or periodontal diseases. The clinical training includes designing and implementation of individualized preventive program in two patient cases and the evaluation of the results in terms of improvement of oral health and prognosis for disease progression. The course Preventive Dentistry ΙII includes completion of the clinical training of students as described in course Preventive Dentistry II (07-11) and theoretical lessons on: a) preventing non-infectious oral diseases, e.g. soft tissue damage associated with smoking or with incorrect technique of oral hygiene, b) prevention and improvement of the oral health in specific categories of patients or people with special needs, c) prevention of bacteremia with bacteria of the oral cavity and diseases associated with the bacteremia, d) prevention of adverse reactions associated with tooth whitening, e) sugar substitutes and f) treatment of patients with hyposialia.
