Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to: 1. learn and identify the cell structure, the tissues, the organs and the systems of the domestic animals in reference to their topography in the body, their correlation as well as their differentiations among productive species. 2. furthermore, to comprehend the principles of embryology, the basic principles of the animal organism functions, which are conditioned by natural and biochemical – hormonal cues. 3. understand the concept of homeostasis and of the whole body function and how each particular physiological system contributes to the function of the “whole”. 4. Students, also, will be able to explain the co – ordination of the functions of the organism, the animal’s adaptation to the environment and the perpetuation of the species.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Animal Structure and Function. Animal cell (οrganelles, chromosomes, mitosis-meiosis, DNA). Tissues. Fetal development - Embryonic annexes. Endocrine system. Locomotor system (Osteology, Arthrology, Myology). Nervous system. Body cavities. Digestive system. Circulatory system. Respiratory system. Urinary system. Male and Female reproductive or genital system (anatomy – physiology of reproductive organs and mammary gland).
