Upon the successful completion of the course, the students will be able to fully comprehend the structure and operational characteristics of an overhead or underground power transmission line.In addition, the students will be able to comprehend the active and reactive power flow in a power transmission line, and they will be able to mathematically model the power line.
Finally, the students will be able to design the reactive power compensation in a power system.

Electric energy transmission and distribution. Underground and overhead power lines. Mechanical properties of power lines. Calculations of sag and forces on overhead conductors. Electrical properties of power lines. Active and reactive power transmission and control in short and long power lines. Conductor loading limitations. Calculations of voltage drop and stability. Reactive power compensation. Power grid and consumer substations. Electric transmission and distribution networks.
