Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. understand different types of healthcare systems and the Greek healthcare system. 2. learn the basic principles of Primary Health Care and General Practice. 3. learn about active patient-centred listening in consultation. 4. understand the basic principles of health prevention and health promotion. 5. learn basic clinical skills, such as infection control, medical history taking, vital signs measurement, injection techniques, BLS-AED. 6. implement what they learned in simulation at the Clinical Skills Centre and in Health Care Units.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Health and society, Introduction to Primary Health Care, Structure and function of hospitals, Teamwork and healthcare team in the community, Health promotion, Care in home, Human-centered care, Introduction in clinical examination, Diagnosis in general practice, Patient – doctor relationship, Patients’ rights, Medical professionalism, Introduction in basic clinical skills: Infection control (hand hygiene, gloving, safe waste disposal), Vital signs measurement (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation), Injections (intradermal, intramuscular, subcutaneous), Basic Life Support and use of automatic external defibrillator (BLS-AED).
