Course Content (Syllabus)
SSection 1 (12 Hours): Noise (Sources and classification of noise), Noise calculations (System Noise figure and noise temperature), Amplitude modulation systems (DSB-SC, AM, SSB, Receivers and noise calculations), Angle modulation systems (PM and FM), Receivers and transmitters (power amplifiers, Matching circuits).
Section 2 (6 Hours): Information Theory - Coding (Definitions, Entropy, Shannon Theorem, Channel Capacity, Ideal Channel, Binary Symmetric Channel, Detection – Error Correction, Codes Shannon – Fano, Hamming, CRC, convolutional, Reed Solomon)
Section 3 (10 Hours): Sampling, Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) and Applications, Digital Data Transmission Systems (OOK, ASK, FSK, MPSK, MSK, M-QAM, TCM and Variations, Synchronous / Asynchronous Digital Data Transmission)
Section 4 (4 Hours): Multiple Access Techniques and Applications (Spread Spectrum Modulation, OFDM - Digital Subscriber Line Systems)
Section 5 (4 Hours): Mobile and personal communications. Development and Perspectives on Information and Communications Technologies - The future challenge
