-To understand and interpret energy diagrams of organic reactions-mechanism - Understand and interpret the kinetics of organic reactions and the study of organic reaction rates. - Understand and design for transition states of organic reactions. - Understanding and use of kinetic isotopic effects, Hammett kinetics, Curtin-Hammett theory. - Understand and interpret free radical trapping reactions and rearrangements of organic cyclopropyl molecules.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Diagramms, advance physical organic chemistry, kinetic reactions, transition states, kinetic isotope effects, Hammett kinetics, Hammond postulation, Curtin-Hammett theory, free radical reactions, rearrangement of organic free radicals, trap of organic intermediates. One and two dimensinal NMR, theory and applications, complex pulse sequences, NoE effect, double resonance experiments. Relationships between the Spectrum and the Molecular Structure. Problems on finding the structure of unknown compounds. Theory and demostration of Mass Spectroscopy.
