Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course the students will:
- have gotten acquainted with the study and implementation of the International Vienna Convention
- comprehend the method and the importance of the comparative study of the national, european and international legal framework of the law of sale
- be able to handle practical problems arising from the the law of the international sales of goods.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The respective lessons are focused on the international sales of goods, as they are regulated by the International Vienna Convention of 1980. The scope of the Convention, the preconditions of its applicability, the formation of the contract and, moreover, the parties’ obligations, the specific types of their breach and the respective remedies (specific fulfilment, repair, replacement, compensation, rescission etc.) that the creditor acquires in case of a breach are discussed under a practical spirit, in combination with relative matters of the international civil procedure and of the international private law, in order for the participants of the class to be able, at the end of the semester, to handle practical issues arising in the field of the international trade.
