Learning Outcomes
(a) To acquaint students with the genre of ancient greek historiography. (b) To familiarize students with the various representatives of ancient geek historiography, their aims and methods, their relation with their historical era and the particular features of their works. (c)To enable students to study Greek prose in depth, with due emphasis on issues of linguistic features and distinct style.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The class focuses on ancient Greek historiography, its main representatives and conventions, while the core of the course is devoted to the study of Herodotus’ «Histories», his sources, methods and narrative techniques in particular.
