Course Content (Syllabus)
The movement of ethography has shown two trends since 1880: idyllic display of life in the countryside, depiction of the cruel or inhuman aspects of everyday life. Gradually and in a realistic way fiction around the beginning of the twentieth century clearly articulates a critique of society and begins to denounce the negative aspects of social development. We will study fictions of G. Vizyinos, Al.
Papadiamantis, Gr. Xenopoulos, K. Theotokis. Secondarily, will be approached texts which belong to the ethno-centered prose of the early twentieth century (I. Dragoumis, P. Delta, P. Giannopoulos), which set up opponent ideologically point to the fiction of the social protest.
