By concluding this course the students who have succesfully completed it will be able to know the course of music creation and evolution of the classical guitar repertory both historically / theoretically but also from a performative aspect.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course -Guitar: technique, performance, creation aims at describing the evolutionary path of creation and performance of the guitar repertoire musical works. The issues that will be studied and researched are the following: Historical origins of the guitar and its evolution in the 21st century. - Comparative study of the various schools on technical issues. - Essentials of composition for guitar. - Comparative study of editorial issues. - The place of the guitar in the various genres of contemporary music. - Solutions to technical issues as the case may be. - Guitar works inspired by opera and lyric singing. - The effect of Historically Informed Performance (HIP) on technique and interpretative approach to the works. - Ways of studying musical works on a case-by-case basis. - The adaptation and transcription - Historical course and comparative study with emphasis on the works of J. S. Bach. - Essentials on accompaniment. - The guitar in Greek art music. - Guitar scoring in contemporary music and its particular characteristics. - Basic directions for repertoire selection.

Description
Students' evaluation is compiled by the consistent attendance of the classes and the progress of the works chosen to be interpreted or the chosen paper: a) during the semester (up to 40%) and b) during the presentation at a public concert at the end of the semester or project presentation (up to 60%).
