Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students:
•will have acquired knowledge about the contribution of Greek Traditional Dance to the education of the individual,
•will have acquired knowledge about customs and traditions, traditional costumes, musical instruments and folk song from areas of Greece such as Asia Minor, Aegean Islands, Ionian Islands, Cyclades, Crete, Cyprus and from cultural groups such as Cappadocians, Pontians,
•will have reached a high level of knowledge, skill and ability to perform in practice the dances from the above regions of Greece and cultural groups,
•will be able to apply in practice the principles of didactics for the teaching of Greek Traditional Dances,
•will have the ability to analyze the dances in parts according to the steps-movements and the rhythm of each dance and to the principles of didactics for an effective teaching,
•will be able to recognize and correct errors in the performance of the dances,
•will be able to work independently as dance teachers.

Course Content (Syllabus)
• Analysis of the dance form. Analysis of dance components. Motion analysis and notation. Chorological approach: classification methods, analysis techniques.
• Learning dances from geographical dippartments (Asia Minor, Islands of Aegean, Ionion, Cyclades, Crete, Cyprus), and cultural groups (Kappadokes, Pontioi) from Greece.
• Study of the contribution of Greek Traditional Dance to the education of the individual.

Student Assessment
Description
The assessment is based on students' regular and active participation in the course (10%), midterm exams (20%), the presentation of a paper concerning dancing at the end of the semester (20%), and oral, written and practical exams at the end of the semester (50%). The criteria are communicated to the students in the first lesson.
