Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students are expected to
- understand in depth the theoretical discussions on the existence of the public sector, the role of the state, and the means (taxes, expenditures, etc.) at its disposal to meet its objectives
- have delved into the notions of externalities and the necessity of state intervention
- have achieved a satisfactory level of understanding the characteristics of the public good
- have become familiar with a number of representative examples of public spending (education, health, social security, etc.)
