Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the students are expected to: Know the types of cultural heritage and possibilities of educational applications. Understand the importance of all children's access to cultural heritage in the frame of the contemporary multicultural educational and social reality Recognize the importance of all children’s engagement and inclusion in cultural heritage activities in the frame of the inclusive education Recognize the learning benefits including values and soft skills for all children regardless of their differences in cultural heritage education. Learn about policies, strategies and programs of the European Union for cultural heritage in education Evaluate and use (traditional and digital) and cultural sites in relation to the objectives of the Curriculum Know and apply the principles of Universal Planning for Learning in different learning environments (at school and in non-formal learning environments) for the design of activities and educational material Recognize the role of teachers in connecting the school with the community and the family in order to promote cultural heritage in education Develop collaborative practices in the context of educational activities and programs with regards to cultural heritage.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The subject of the course is the theoretical and educational approach of the contemporary concept of the cultural heritage (tangible and intangible cultural heritage, natural heritage and digital heritage) with the aim to prepare the future teachers to be able to use these types and forms of cultural heritage for children’s holistic development and the cultivation of skills, attitudes and values in the contemporary multicultural environment. The main axes of the course are: (a.) The types and forms of cultural heritage (tangible, intangible, natural and digital heritage, (b.) The role of education (formal, non-formal and informal) to promote understanding, values, respect to diversity and human rights and skills including soft skills, (c) The very concept of cultural participation, the significance of participatory and collaborative practices, the multidimensional concept of access and its role for the equal cultural participation and inclusion of all children (e.g. mixed ability classes, children with disabilities and / or special educational needs, children with migrant biography, etc.), (d) The Universal Design for Learning-UDL, (e.) The connection of the school with the community and the family for the promotion of the cultural heritage in education, and (f.) The design of activities inside and outside the school and the use of arts, pedagogical methods and educational material (traditional and digital) for cultural heritage in the education of all children.

Student Assessment
Description
During the semester the students will: Study and present theoretical texts of relevant literature Written assignment (optional) Field trips in cultural sites in Thessaloniki. Activities with educational material (including digital) Final evaluation In all cases the students work in small groups and are evaluated both at group and at individual level.
